Wycombe striker Adebayo Akinfenwa has said that his knee surgery ‘went well’.

The 38-year-old posted on Twitter on the evening of Monday, July 27, that his right knee was operated on and the recovery ‘starts now’.

The former Northampton Town and Swansea City forward played a huge part in Wycombe’s promotion to the Championship this season, as he scored 10 goals during the campaign.

On social media, he said: “Quick update: First: Thank you for all your kind messages and positive energy, it means a lot.

"Second: Surgery went well so thank God.

“Also want to shout out to [the] surgeon and all the staff for the Beast Mode TLC, I was moving like a wounded teddy bear.

“Now the road to recovery starts now.”

Akinfenwa was one of many players to sign contract extensions at the club after Wycombe’s 2-1 victory against Oxford United on July 13.

Next season will be the club’s first in the Championship.
