Beaconsfield MP Joy Morrissey has taken to social media, claiming that conservative-supporting youngsters have to hide their political beliefs at school.

In the tweet, the Conservative MP claimed students had raised concerns to her that they are not allowed to express political views that support the conservative party.

The tweet has now been retweeted almost 4,000 times and liked over 10,000 times.

It reads: "Yesterday, three young constituents told me they can no longer express their political views to teachers and have to hide their conservative opinion at school - ie the majority opinion in this country.

"Why has education become a platform to affirm one moral world view?"

The tweet has caused a lot of debate on social media, with some supporting Morrissey's message and some questioning the legitimacy of the claims.

Dolly Mixture agreed with the tweet, claiming: "I had no idea of the political leanings of my teachers when I was at school.

"They just taught the subject. Now, they deem it their duty to push a particular agenda because they firmly believe they are right. The teachers themselves have been indoctrinated."

Brian Davis added: "My 3 daughters went to Northampton , Leicester De Montford and Liverpool John Moore universitie , and they have all said that they would never let on that they were Conservative voters because the lecturers spewed left wing and Marxist views and would have been vile to them."

Objecting to the original tweet, Chris Kendall said: "Several of your constituents told me they can no longer express their political views to their MP and have to hide their pro-EU opinion if they want a reply from you - ie the majority opinion in this country.

"Why has representative democracy become an exclusionary platform?"

Nikki Cooke said: "I call you out. As a Beaconsfield teacher, tell us the school.

"Teachers don’t do this, it’s like a code of teaching to encourage students to value opinions whether they agree or not. Bet they haven’t even said anything, they are feeling insecure and guessing. Nonsense."
