This is the moment a brazen thief steals a parcel and flees - just seconds before a police car drives past.

Homeowner Humphrey Grimmett captured the moment the package - which was sticking out of the post box at his home in Bledlow Ridge - was stolen on his Nest video doorbell.

A silver van pulls up on Chinnor Road just before 1pm on August 3 and a woman steps out to survey the parcel.

She seems to have second thoughts about picking it up as vehicles queue to get round the van as it obstructs the road and returns to the vehicle.

But she quickly runs back, grabs the parcel and dashes back to the already-moving vehicle.

The driver then makes a quick getaway, with the door the woman leapt into still open.

Bucks Free Press:

Less than three seconds later, the video captures a Thames Valley Police patrol car driving past the scene of the crime.

Despite this, no one has yet been arrested in connection with the theft - although Thames Valley Police are investigating.

The officers in charge of the investigation have been made aware of the footage after Mr Grimmett urged them to look into whether the patrol car caught any of the incident.
