UPDATE: Plomer Hill shut after storm drain collapsed will stay closed until next Friday

A busy road linking High Wycombe and Downley is set to remain shut until next week.

Plomer Hill, off West Wycombe Road, will be closed to traffic until August 19.

Downley Parish Council said the road closure follows heavy rainfall on Wednesday evening which caused part of the road to collapse where roadworks were due to be carried out.

The weather led to flash floods in many different parts of the county, including Hazlemere and West Wycombe.

Closing the road will allow emergency repair works to take place, they added - as there is a 1.5 metre hole under the road surface.

Transport for Bucks said drivers trying to get between High Wycombe and Downley should follow local diversions.

We have asked Transport for Bucks for more information about why the road has shut.
