A Go Fund Me page which was set up to raise money for Kyrece’s Legacy has achieved its target in tremendous fashion.

Kyrece Francis, who was a 13-year-old boy from Marlow, tragically lost his life on July 22, 2014, after drowning in the town’s stretch of the River Thames.

Following his tragic passing, his friends and family set up the Kyrece’s Legacy charity which aims to spread water safety techniques in the county for those who are struggling in deep water.

This led the charity to instal safety equipment across the Thames but this year, several b’lines were either taken or damaged.

To help stop this, the founders of the Marlow Life Facebook Group set up a Go Fund Me page to raise £500 for the charity, with the money going towards new equipment.

The target was to reach this in 22 days as this was the date of Kyrece’s death, it was his squad number at football, and he died 22 days before his 14th birthday.

Incredibly, on Thursday August 13, 22 days on from when the page was set up, £3,687 was raised in that time.

The admins of the Marlow Life Facebook page said: “We have been truly overwhelmed by the generosity and support of the local communities.

“The money raised will be used to fund safety devices, better warning signage at key points along the River Thames, along with water safety sessions and swimming lessons for children whose parents cannot afford them.

“Thank you to everyone who donated, shared the posts, sent supportive messages and commented on our posts.

“Kyrece’s loved ones & friends worked hard to ensure his legacy continues.
