Police regularly warn us all about the latest cons to be aware of – but fraudsters even tried to scam an officer this week.
A Chesham police officer shared this week how a fraudster – claiming to be an “official” called them at work to inform them a warrant was out for their arrest.
But the fraudster was in for a shock when the officer explained who they were speaking to.
Sharing the bizarre experience on social media, the officer wrote: “So even police get these calls. An apparent ‘official’ called my work telephone number informing me a warrant was out for my arrest.
“When I informed them to come to my work address at Chesham Police Station where I would happily hand myself in, they hung up!
“Please don’t fall for these scams.”
The officer also shared a warning from HM Revenue and Customs, alerting people to a scam where fraudsters leave an automated voicemail claiming a lawsuit is going to be brought against the caller.
HMRC said “This is a scam – do not comply.”
