A 17-YEAR-OLD who repeatedly stabbed his father with a knife in an explosion of violence has been jailed.

Anthony McNally left his victim bleeding 'profusely' and with part of his stomach hanging out due to the multiple blows.

The violent outburst came after he had made numerous threats towards his own family, including telling his mother he would 'throw acid in her face' and shoot her with an air rifle.

The teenager of Leach Road, Bicester, had already admitted one count of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

His identity can only now be revealed after a reporting restriction was lifted following a challenge made by the Oxford Mail.

Outlining the case at the sentencing hearing at Oxford Crown Court today prosecutor Matthew Walsh said the violent episode took place at McNally's family home on the afternoon of February 10 this year.

In the build-up to the violence there had been a 'decline in his behaviour' and McNally had made threats towards his family, and shown 'abusive behaviour' to his mother.

He told her to 'go and drink bleach and kill yourself' and also threatened he would 'throw acid in her face.'

McNally further said he would stab her and that he would shoot her with an air rifle.

He began to carry knives with him, prosecutors said, and his abusive behaviour culminated in the afternoon of violence which took place at about 3.30pm.

An argument had erupted between McNally and his mother which led to the police being called.

The explosion of violence that followed was partly captured on a mobile phone, in which McNally repeatedly stabbed his father, who was pinned against the side of a bed, with a knife.

The weapon was described in court as a wooden-handled knife with a five inch long blade.

Eyewitnesses said the attack was like a 'hammering' of blows with McNally 'using all his strength.'

McNally left and went to a friend's house before his arrest and his father was treated for his wounds.

As a result of the knife attack a part of the man's stomach was protruding out and he was bleeding heavily from a wound to his scalp.

There were also 'defensive wounds' which the court heard was consistent with the victim trying to wrestle the blade away.

In mitigation John Lamb, defending, said his client was a 'young man who was very withdrawn and isolated.'

He added: "Thankfully the injuries were not life threatening, but of course serious."

Sentencing, Judge Peter Ross said McNally had 'lost his temper' and that there had been 'a degree of pre-meditation' with him arming himself with a knife.

McNally was jailed for four years and made subject to a restraining order against his victim indefinitely.

He must also pay a statutory victim surcharge.
