Extinction Rebellion members draped banners over the M40 in a peaceful weekend of action in streets and parks in High Wycombe and Marlow.

Drivers beeped their horns as a banner saying 'climate emergency' was dropped over an M40 bridge on Friday, August 28 - but police asked them to take it down because it was apparently distracting motorists.

Extinction Rebellion Chilterns rebels then moved to a different bridge, near the RAF Daws Hill site, to display the banner.

It was part of a weekend of peaceful protests to raise awareness of the impact of climate change across High Wycombe and Marlow.

On Saturday, August 29, rebels met in the Eden Shopping Centre to display a 'Chilterns Extinction Rebellion' banner, chant and hand out flyers for a talk on the climate emergency in Marlow that was happening the next day.

They also marched through the shopping centre and into the High Street in a bid to engage shoppers on the issue.

Another banner drop and march was held in Marlow on Sunday, August 30, with a banner suspended from Marlow Bridge ahead of a talk in Higginson Park in Marlow led by local XR activists Katy Coleman, Stephen Morton, Caroline Pakel and Dora Hargitai.

The weekend of action came ahead of a nationwide 10-day rebellion that started in London, Manchester and Cardiff on September 1.
