A mini-earthquake struck parts of southern England and Bucks today with with hundreds of residents reporting they had felt buildings shaking and ground tremors.

The quake - recorded by the British Geological Survey as being of 3.6 magnitude - struck at 9.45am with Aylesbury being the epicentre.

Hundreds of residents said they felt and saw the tremor, with some people reporting that their houses and cars shook.

According to comments from residents collected by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, tremors were felt in Tring, Aylesbury and Leighton Buzzard areas.

One said: "Lying on the sofa, it was like it was picked up and shaken, for a second, or more. Nothing is out of place though."

Another said: "House shook. Short quick quiet boom like an explosion."

A Tring resident added that it was a "large bang and then shaking", adding: "It felt like somebody was pushing our house."
