Work is now underway to replace the old cafe at a popular High Wycombe park.
As summer comes to an end, the old boat house cafe on The Rye closed its doors for good last week ahead of a complete revamp.
The corrugated green shed is being demolished and the foundations for a new building are being prepared this week.
A new cafe, which will have an eating area and kitchen and two new toilets, is being built off-site and will be arriving at the park in the next few months.
It is due to be ready to open its doors to parkgoers in early 2021.
It is expected that the tenant who ran the old cafe will return to the new one when it opens.
You will still be able to hire boats out from the new cafe and park visitors will not need to have bought anything from the cafe to be able to use the long-awaited toilets.
Planning permission to go ahead with the plans was given in March this year because the old building was "no longer fit for purpose", Buckinghamshire Council said.
Cllr Clive Harriss, cabinet member sports and leisure, said: āIām excited to see that work is now under way at The Rye, meaning that visitors will be able to enjoy the new, improved facilities early in the new year.ā
