OXFORD celebrated its Polish links with and helped mark the celebrations for Polish National Day in May 1964.
That year the annual event coincided with the 20th anniversary of the Battle of Monte Cassino, in which many Polish troops fought during the Second World War.
To mark both of the events 300 members of the Polish community in Oxford gathered at Cowley Parish Hall for a night of dancing and festivities.
Celebrated on May 3 the day marks the declaration of the constitution of the country in 1791.
It was only officially restored as a Polish holiday in April 1990 after the fall of communism and in 2007 it was also declared a Lithuanian national holiday.
