Bucks New University has climbed a staggering 28 places in the Guardian University Guide.

It represents the ninth highest rise across all UK universities - and the Queen Alexandra Road uni is also a top-three climber in England.

It ranked highly for the resources it invests to support its students and was the 13th highest in the UK for expenditure in that area.

It also went up 22 places for accounting and finance studies, ranking 25th in the UK.

Other highlights include:

  • The university climbed 20 places to 14th for Business, Management and Marketing; and ranks 10th (up 14 places) for Sociology in London and South East.
  • In London and South East, Bucks is also a top 10 university for Accounting and Finance; Computer Science and Information Studies; Fashion and Textiles; Hospitality, Events Management & Tourism; Sociology; and Sports Science.
  • For Post-92 Universities, Bucks climbed 41 places to 21st for Business, Management and Marketing; and 42 places to 8th for Accounting and Finance.
  • An impressive climb of 63 places saw Bucks rank 53rd out of all business schools which represented the second highest rise in the UK for this area.

Professor Nick Braisby, Vice-Chancellor at Buckinghamshire New University, said: “Our overall rise in the Guardian University Guide’s ranking from 120th to 92nd reflects the significant improvement in our students’ satisfaction with our teaching quality, assessment and feedback in this year’s National Student Survey, and our strong performance in the new HESA graduate outcomes data.

“I am thrilled with our significantly improved rankings in this year’s Guardian League Table. These results are testament to our staff’s commitment and tireless work to ensure our students receive high quality teaching which means they are well-prepared and confident to succeed in their chosen careers.”
