A number of pet birds were sadly killed after a fire ripped through a pigeon coop and three sheds in Bletchley.

Bucks Fire and Rescue responded to reports of the fire in Conway Close at 7.59pm yesterday evening.

Three fire engines and crews rushed to the scene.

Firefighters used a main jet, a hose reel, two sets of breathing apparatus and a toolkit as they extinguished the fire and also cooled a 25kg butane cylinder.

Tragically, a number of birds that were kept as domestic pets died in the fire.
