CHANGES to Bracknell’s Morrison supermarket have been given the go-ahead by the council.

This is just one of a number of decisions the authority has made on interesting planning applications in the past few weeks.

Changes at Morrisons (planning reference: 20/00517/FUL)

These alterations are small and won’t affect the general day-to-day operations of the supermarket but they should make life easier for staff and will potentially mean the store has more stock in.

This is because Bracknell Forest Council (BFC) has agreed to let Morrison’s add three new additional parking spaces for delivery vans, as well as an additional exit gate.

Supermarket chiefs also gained permission to add a building within its service yard to create a warehouse pod will hold two gas coolers and two refrigeration holds.

A new gantry will also go up at the store.

New home at former offices (20/00677/PAC)

The first floor of former offices on Crowthorne High Street will become a new home.

Prior approval was granted for the plan to create a two-bedroom space — a special kind of planning permission which allows developers to convert empty offices or shops into new homes more easily — above The Village Cobbler store.

This plan was due to be discussed at a BFC planning committee meeting last night but was pulled from the agenda as approval had already been granted.

These aren’t major changes — the chapel’s tinted sheet glass windows are being replaced with stained glass windows.

But because the chapel is a listed building — which means it has special planning protections — site managers needed the all-clear from BFC before going ahead with the switch.

Two new flats in Bracknell (19/00375/FUL)

A home at Bluebell Hill will be split in half to create two new flats.

A single-story extension at the back of the property will also go ahead.

Bracknell News:

This plan is a re-submission of a similar plan which was withdrawn in June.

The new proposal’s only change is the addition of an extra car parking space at the site.
