Dogs will be allowed to take part in this year’s Santa's Fun Run in Marlow.

The ‘K9 Challenge’, will allow dog owners to walk or run with fellow dog enthusiasts, in the town's 16th annual Santa's Fun Run which will be done virtually due to the ongoing pandemic.

This year, participants will complete the length of the run [5k] on December 5 and 6, in which they’ll log their time into the Santa's Fun Run website.

It was also confirmed that Bee Skelton, who is a local artist from the area, has chosen the event as her 2020 Christmas fundraiser charity.

She has painted a picture of the iconic event which is available to buy in print or as a Christmas card.

Bee will donate 20 per cent of all proceeds to the Rotary Santa’s Fun Run fund.

She said: “The Marlow Santa's Fun Run is a fantastic local event, and even in the dark days of 2020, the organisers have shown great determination to both keep the event going – and also to try and raise the £50,000 they achieved in 2019.

“My painting tries to capture the fun of this great day – and if I can add some smiles and a few more pounds to their charity fund then I will be very happy indeed.”

John Prout – Chair of the Marlow Santa's Fun Run organising committee - says: “We are delighted that Bee is supporting this event – and feel very flattered with the picture.

“The Christmas Cards and the Prints should prove very popular – and of course every purchase will directly help in our efforts to raise money for hard-pressed charities”.

He added: “The recent announcements regarding tiers one to three in England should not interfere with the running of the event.

“As things stand running outside in socially distanced groups of 6 is fine – but teams will need to check the guidelines as they apply on December 5 and 6.

“If there is any change in the rules then team set-ups may have to be modified accordingly.”
