A man has been charged in connection with the death of a "kind, happy and hardworking" father of three who was killed in a crash.

Pete Chamberlain, 38, died on September 18 last year when the van driver was involved in a crash on the M40 between junction 2 for Beaconsfield and junction 1a for the M25.

The van Pete, from Thame, was driving left the road and crashed into trees and fencing. He sadly died at the scene.

His passenger suffered serious injuries and was rushed to hospital.

Pete left behind his devastated wife Gemma and three children Chloe, Rosie and Zac.

A man was arrested at the time of the crash.

But more than a year on, someone has been charged as part of the investigation.

Gagandeep Rai, 28, of Stafford Avenue in Slough, has been charged with one count of causing death by dangerous driving and one count of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

He is due to appear at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on November 13 for a first hearing.

At the time of his death, Pete's family said his death had left a "huge hole" in their hearts.

They said: "We would like to thank everyone for all the kind words and support at this difficult time.

“Pete, sleep tight our angel – we love and miss you so much.”

An inquest into Pete's death at Buckinghamshire Coroner's Court was formally suspended in a hearing on Wednesday, as inquests are only held when there is no suspicion of a criminal act or wrongdoing.
