Household recycling centres around Bucks will be staying open throughout lockdown.

Buckinghamshire Council has confirmed that all nine of their rubbish tips around the county will be keeping their gates firmly open - so hopefully we won't be seeing another hike in fly-tipping.

Amersham (London Road East), Aston Clinton (College Road North), Beaconsfield (A40 London Road), Buckingham (Yonder Slade), High Wycombe (High Heavens, Clay Lane), Langley (Langley Park Road), Aylesbury (Rabans Lane), Burnham (Crowpiece Lane) and Chesham (Latimer Road) are the nine centres operated by the council.

Although the tips are staying open, the re-use shops at Aston Clinton and High Wycombe are classed as non-essential and have now shut temporarily.

All sites are open 9am to 4pm during winter (October to March).

There are safety measures in place at the recycling centres:

  • Only visit if you cannot store your waste or use another disposal method such as the kerbside service
  • Bring proof of address. Only residents who pay council tax to Buckinghamshire Council can use the sites. Slough Borough Council residents are able to use Langley and Burnham sites only
  • Check the webcams online to see how busy the site is and for the quieter times to visit. Don't arrive before the sites open
  • Remember social distancing measures are in place, this also means no assistance for unloading can be provided
  • Only allow one person out of the vehicle whilst on site
  • Go back another time if the site is busy. Long queues can cause traffic and block access to homes and businesses

All council-owned leisure centres in the county have had to shut, as have all the libraries for now - but five (High Wycombe, Aylesbury, Beaconsfield, Buckingham and Chesham) will reopen next Tuesday for customers to use the 'request and collect' service.

The council's registrar services will also be running throughout lockdown 2.0.
