A major rape investigation has been shelved by detectives – more than one year after a High Wycombe man was arrested.

Thames Valley Police has now confirmed the suspect is no longer under investigation amid allegations of a rape in Maidenhead.

It is the third case in three weeks to be ended by police.

This latest probe focused on an incident on May 28, 2019, when a woman was allegedly raped at a property in the Woodlands Park area, with the man, who was 49-years-old at the time, being arrested on June 8 that year.

He was bailed until July 5, 2019, but Thames Valley Police has confirmed that the suspect, who is now 51, has 'been released with no further action'.

A spokesperson from TVP said: “A thorough investigation was carried out into this incident, with numerous lines of enquiry followed, including CCTV and forensics work.

“However, this investigation has concluded pending any further lines of information or evidence coming to light.

“A 51-year-old man from High Wycombe who was arrested in connection with this incident has been released with no further action.”

This is the third rape case linked to the county to be shelved in the last three weeks, after investigations into the alleged rapes of an 11-year-old girl in Holmer Green and of a woman in Marlow were halted.
