A MAN has died after being hit by a lorry on the M62.

The motorway was closed eastbound between junction seven at Rainhill and junction eight at Burtonwood for around eight hours after the accident yesterday afternoon.

Merseyside Police have confirmed today, Monday, that a 28-year-old man has died following the incident.

His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

A force spokesman said: “We can confirm that following a road traffic collision on the M62 yesterday, Sunday, a 28-year-old man has sadly died.

“His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers at this time.

“An investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the roads policing unit on 0151 777 5747 or call 101 quoting reference number 20000710137.”

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 4.15pm on November 22 after reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a lorry.

The route reopened shortly after midnight, with the westbound carriageway having also been closed for roughly an hour in order to allow access for the air ambulance.
