The long-awaited new Wimpy restaurant in High Wycombe has opened its doors today.

Because of lockdown restrictions, only takeaways and home delivery orders can be made for the new White Hart Street fast food eatery from today (Monday, November 23).

The opening of the new restaurant comes after a £200,000 upgrade of the former G'rillers unit in the town centre.

As soon as restrictions are lifted, there will be seating for 44 diners.

But for now, orders can be made via Just Eat and Deliveroo.

Wimpy High Wycombe is the brainchild of a consortium of four franchisees - Altan Ogretici, Ahmet Sevinc, Yujel Mehmed and Asrarjon Abdullaev - who have more than 20 years experience of running restaurants.

Altan, who also runs Wimpys in Ruislip, Ashford and Cheshunt, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to have brought Wimpy back to High Wycombe, we know there are plenty of Wimpy fans in the town and we can’t wait to show off our new look and our fabulous, good value food.

“Our new restaurant is in an excellent town centre location, close to the Eden Shopping Centre.

"We’re looking forward to serving Wimpy fans via takeaway and home delivery.”

Chris Woolfenden, Wimpy UK general manager, added: “We know that Wimpy has been much missed in High Wycombe and are delighted that with all their combined experience, Altan and his fellow franchisees have been successful in bringing it back to the town. We wish them every luck in the future.”

The last Wimpy restaurant left High Wycombe in January 2009.
