Russell Brand says he has been inspired by "incredible" Manchester United footballer and poverty campaigner Marcus Rashford to help out a High Wycombe food bank.

The celebrity, who lives in the Marlow area, shared a video to his 11.2 million Twitter followers saying he wants to help One Can Trust food bank after seeing the inspirational work of the Man Utd footballer.

The High Wycombe food bank, based in Duke Street, provides emergency food parcels to people in crisis in the town as well as Marlow and south Bucks.

In the video, comedian and actor Russell said: "I wanna help this group called the One Can Trust, they're a food bank in High Wycombe. They told me that they wanted to raise awareness, so I'm making this video.

"Although I don't have to make a whole video because they've already made a brilliant one of their own promoting what they do, particularly, they want to address the stigma that a lot of people feel when using a food bank."

The A-lister, who was once married to singer Katy Perry, revealed he would be holding a charity Zoom call on November 25 at 3pm with all proceeds going to the charity.

Since the start of the pandemic, the need for One Can Trust's food parcels has tripled.

Russell added: "I'm supporting them in any little way I can. I try not to get caught up when I'm involved in sort of things like this.

"My mind goes a little crazy, I start wondering about, well, God, can't people do more, can't supermarkets do more?

"When you think about poverty it's impossible to avoid the idea that we should completely restructure society, but for now, this function, on the rather more manageable objective of helping people that really need to get fed, the One Can Trust is in the South Bucks area.

"If you need to use this service, or if you can donate to this service, or if you can volunteer for this service, please get in touch with them."
