A PAEDOPHILE who flouted a court ban and was found with images of child sex abuse has been jailed.

After David Jones was caught by police with internet-enabled devices investigating officers went on to find a haul of banned images of children.

The 32-year-old of St Nicholas Road, Oxford had admitted five counts of breaching a sexual harm prevention order and five counts of making indecent images of children.

He was sentenced for those crimes at Oxford Crown Court yesterday.

Outlining the case prosecutor Robert Lindsey said Jones was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order after he was convicted of other offences of possessing indecent images of children.

As part of that order he was forbidden from having any internet-enabled devices without informing the authorities.

Officers went to his home for an unannounced visit on January 23 this year.

There it was revealed that Jones had a mobile phone, and an examination of various other devices revealed indecent images of children.

Those banned images depicted girls aged between seven and 14.

He was later arrested again and found to have another device, a mobile pone.

Jones admitted to deleting the internet history despite his banning order as well as searching for images of children.

More images were also discovered on that phone.

In total Jones had two images of the most severe category - A, nine in category B and 254 in category C.

Kellie Enever, defending, said that her client was 'ashamed' and 'embarrassed' after what he had done.

Sentencing, Judge Nigel Daly ordered a 28-month jail term, made up of 16 months for the indecent images to run consecutive to 12 months for the breaches.

He must also pay a victim surcharge.
