The number of recorded coronavirus cases in Buckinghamshire increased by 71 over the last 24 hours, official figures show.

Public Health England figures show that 7,176 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Friday (November 27) in Buckinghamshire, up from 7,105 the same time on Thursday.

This comes as it has been announced that a new local COVID-19 tracing service is to be to be launched in Bucks amid a fall in success of the NHS track and trace service.

The rate of infection in Buckinghamshire now stands at 1,319 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 2,430.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 14,739 over the period to 1,589,301.

Buckinghamshire's cases were among the 129,353 recorded across the South East, a figure which rose by 1,800 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
