An Amersham pub that was used as a backdrop in hit romcom Four Weddings and a Funeral has been named one of the nation’s favourite on-screen locals.

The Kings Arms, in the High Street, was featured in the blockbuster Hugh Grant/Andie MacDowell starrer and has come in at number nine of the top 12 of the UK’s most loved fictional pubs, according to a survey by Liberty Games.

The games retailer analysed the country’s favourite on-screen pubs to reveal the estimated cost of a pint, the location, its IMDb score as well as how popular it is with Brits. It looked at 129 pubs in total.

It then undertook a survey of the top 20 pubs to find out which ones were the most popular around the UK.

The Kings Arms ranked number nine, with an IMDb score of 7.0 and 5.8 per cent of respondents voting it as the on-screen pub they would most like to have a drink in.

In comparison, 17.2 per cent of respondents agreed they would most like to have a pint in the fictional The Nag’s Head, from Only Fools and Horses, making it number one on the list.

The Kings Arms was transformed into a hotel after town councillors unanimously backed a plan to change the 14th Century listed building in 2001 after 30 years as a pub.

They agreed the extension would help with the shortage of accommodation in the town.
