Princes Risborough residents are being promised tapas, cocktails and rooftop views as a new “hospitality business” takes over the former NatWest bank in the High Street.

The Manor, which already owns a successful restaurant, cocktail bar and roof terrace in Aylesbury, is coming to the town after the town council agreed final terms and negotiations for a 20-year lease on its commercial premises.

The council-owned building, which used to be a bank, has already undergone interior refurbishment works by the town council, and the installation of a new shop frontage.

The plans were subject to a lengthy planning process and were given the green light.

They include the addition of a roof top terrace area with panoramic views to the existing 1,369 sq ft building.

The Manor’s owner, Peter Lee, said: “We are delighted to be expanding and coming to Princes Risborough, and contributing to the local economy.

“We expect to open by May 2021 and will serve both delicious brunches and tapas alongside an extensive range of alluring cocktails.”

The town council says it is one of the first in the country to invest in commercial property, with a spokesman adding: “[We] are confident that the new addition to the High Street will enhance the towns nighttime economy as well as offer the best financial return and long-term viability for taxpayers’ money.”

Town mayor and council chairman Cllr Matthew Walsh said: “We very much look forward to welcoming The Manor to Princes Risborough and subsequently introducing a new offering to the town which will benefit both residents and visitors alike.”
