A dance company at the Wycombe Arts Centre have won an accessibility award for at the ‘Together! Film Festival 2020’ for their TIME project films.

The TIME project was created during the first lockdown of 2020 and involved the collaboration of deaf, disabled and non-disabled artists including several from High Wycombe.

The Signdance Collective International dance company won the ‘Collective International the Best Accessible Film'.

The films were premiered at Wycombe Arts Centre last August.

It was the ninth international’ Together! Disability Film Festival’ that took place digitally last December.

The judges bases their decision on storytelling of lived experiences of deaf and disabled people from diverse backgrounds.

The judges said: "While others included captions and audio-description, we loved the live audio-description during the Festival presentation.

“Signdance Collective International went much further.

“While other people might have run workshops over Zoom, SDCI invited contributions to their artistic output which were not simply shown alongside the company’s work, but were worked on by company members to become part of the company’s work."
