A local Penn butcher was heavily praised by many customers after his frantic Christmas queues for turkeys.

After the Christmas rush butcher, Joe Gleeson, admitted that he had never experienced a Christmas like it in 35 years.

The butcher also revealed that during the first lockdown he had an increase in customers and orders.

JP Gleeson’s will be hoping for the same reaction from customers in this most recent lockdown.

People queued for over two hours to get their turkeys and not many were left disappointed.

One customer said: “I queued for two and a half hours from just before 7 am on Christmas Eve.

“I would do so again because the turkey and duck were superb.

“Joe is a great butcher and delivers a great service all year round.”

Another said: “My husband waited two and a half hours but worth it.

“Our Christmas meat was lovely.

“He enjoyed chatting to people in the queue and kind locals brought out umbrellas when it rained.”

A different customer said: “ I was in the queue for two and a half hours and I would have waited the same again if necessary.

“Fabulous butcher.”

Many alluded to the importance of supporting local businesses at the moment.

One person said: “We queue for Joe each year because he delivers a service not just running a shop.”

Someone else said: “Fantastic butchers, and brilliant service from Joe we must support our local small businesses.”

Another said: “A brilliant local business that’s worth queuing for.

“Enjoy a well-deserved break Joe Gleeson.”

A first-time customer said: “It’s the first time we have used them, will definitely be returning.”
