A CONSULTATION on the possible continuance of restrictions designed to crack down on anti-social behaviour in 21 council-controlled car parks is underway.

Buckinghamshire Council is seeking feedback from the public on whether to extend an existing Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) in force across a high number of car parks in the Chiltern area.

The order, which expires at the end of April, has been in force since 2018 and can only cover a period of three years.

It gives the council legal powers to crack down on a specific nuisance or problem in a certain area.

In this instance, the existing order relates to 21 car parks and prohibits reckless behaviour in a vehicle “likely to cause nuisance or annoyance to a member of the public, or a risk of harm, damage or injury to a person or property”.

It also seeks to clamp down on ‘threatening, aggressive, abusive or intimidating’ behaviour between people, while also preventing the area from being used for roller skating, skateboarding and ball games.

“If you are worried about anti-social behaviour in any of these car parks, this consultation is an opportunity to say if you would like the PSPO to remain in place or not,” said Cllr Williams. “There is also the chance to add any comments that you feel need to be considered.”

The closing date for the consultation is February 21.
