A mum-of-two from High Wycombe celebrated her 40th birthday in lockdown with a home spa and customised t-shirts worn by her family.

Shilpi Sachdeva turned 40 on January 8 and was initially disappointed after a third national lockdown meant she could not go on a staycation with her family as originally planned.

But her husband and two children made the day memorable by printing pictures of themselves with Mrs Sachdeva on t-shirts and surprising her the morning of her birthday.

She told the Bucks Free Press: “My children and husband really wanted me to feel special on this special birthday, and the last thing they wanted me to feel is that this day came and went but they couldn’t do anything special for me.

Mrs Sachdeva's friends and family surprised her on a Zoom call

“They came up with an idea to get my picture printed with each of them on their t shirts with a 40th birthday message.

“My 12-year-old daughter came up with an idea for home spa and she thought about every aspect, from keeping the hot towels, fragranced candles and relaxing music.”

Her family organised a surprise virtual birthday party on Zoom, with her friends and extended family from India also joining in, while her son made her a three-tier birthday cake.

Mrs Sachdeva, who is an accounts assistant, added: “Each one of my friends was wearing a t-shirt with my picture on it and wishing me a happy 40th birthday.

“I think this was so sweet and made me feel really special.

“They made the most of what we could do. It was really creative and so thoughtful.”
