Bourne End celebrity Lorraine Kelly has donated a little bit of red carpet glamour to Blue Cross in a bid to help sick and abandoned animals.

The television presenter has donated a blue Coast skirt - which she wore to red carpet events including the Glamour Women of the Year Awards - to Blue Cross in Lewknor to help raise money for needy pets.

The skirt is now available to bid on through the pet charity’s eBay shop, with proceeds from the sale going towards helping cats, dogs, small animals and horses in the charity’s care.

Lorraine has a three-year-old border terrier called Angus.

She said: "My dog Angus has been my saviour; our pets have helped us stay sane at this most challenging of times. But there are many pets that need our help too, which is why I am supporting Blue Cross.

“I adore this Coast skirt that I have worn on the red carpet, but by donating it to Blue Cross, as well as giving someone the chance to enjoy wearing it as much as I have, the funds raised will also help the charity continue its vital work to help pets in need.

Bucks Free Press:

“I’d encourage others who love animals just as much as I do to donate items they no longer need, or if shopping online, to browse the charity’s eBay store, all purchases or donations will benefit the pets who so desperately need our help.”

The charity is looking for clothing and accessories from labels from Topshop to Whistles, Coast to Burberry, which are in good condition and can be sold by the charity to raise as much money as possible to help needy pets.

Donors can contact Blue Cross for a free donation bag which they can fill and will be collected by courier. The donations will then be sent directly to the charity for them to be sorted and sold on its eBay store, or kept back to be sent to the charity’s shops once they reopen.

David Palmer, Retail Operations Manager at Blue Cross: “It’s fantastic news that Lorraine has donated to us and we want to thank her for her support.

“We hope it encourages more people to donate their pre-loved items to Blue Cross to help us to help even more pets in 2021.

“Like all charities, the coronavirus crisis has had a huge impact on our income and our eBay store runs solely on donations.

“With our charity shops closed during lockdown, we’d really appreciate any donations of quality clothing and accessories for us to restock our eBay store."
