Topshop staff at Wycombe Eden Centre bid final farewell

Since Topshop Topman closed their doors at the Eden Shopping Centre in High Wycombe for the last time, staff and shoppers alike have expressed their regret.

The retailers closed down permanently on January 22.

In a window the “Topfam” team posted a message, marking more than a decade of service: “Thank you for the past 13 years of shopping in this store. We will miss all our regulars and lovely customers.

“But for now, stay safe and support your local high street. Lots of love from High Wycombe Topfam (2008-2021).”

All staff were on furlough.

Online, residents and shoppers gave their view of the news.

“Another one bites the dust,” someone wrote.

“Such a shame for everyone losing their jobs,” wrote another.

“Dreadful. We won’t have any shops left on the high street at this rate,” wrote another person.

“So sad. I hope we can help the small shops,” wrote someone else.

“Such sad news…but guys – support local,” wrote another.

Someone else wrote: “Topshop Topman are closed in the Eden. They are/were part of the Arcadia Group which Sir Philip ‘I should have my knighthood removed’ Green has bled dry.”

Administrators for Arcadia will close down Outfit – an operation in which all Mr Green’s retail brands are housed – by the end of the month, according to Sky News.

More than 700 jobs will be lost.

Sir Philip Green’s retail empire fell into administration with debts totalling £750 million, according to The Telegraph.

Topshop declined to comment.
