Concerns are growing after several thefts have occurred on farms in the Aylesbury Vale.

Confirmed by Thames Valley Police, the spate of crimes took place ‘over the last few days’ before Thursday, January 28.

Following the thefts, TVP has confirmed that they have increased their patrols in certain parts of the rural areas of the town.

In a brief Facebook post by TVP Aylesbury Vale on January 28, they said: “If you are one of our local farmers, please take an extra moment to consider the security of your buildings and vehicles.

“If you see or hear anything suspicious then please get in touch with us.

“If you think a crime is taking place, then always call 999.”

A day later [January 29], two police officers attended several rural areas of Aylesbury to conduct patrols.

However, as they were driving to an undisclosed location, it was revealed that they were being held up…by a herd of sheep on the road.

After the delay in getting past the farmyard animals, they confirmed that several patrols and stop checks were being conducted.

In another Facebook post on January 29, TVP Aylesbury Vale said: “Due to the recent agricultural and rural thefts in the area, PC7131 Harvey and PC1959 Fenemore have been out patrolling the local area throughout this night/morning [January 28 and 29].

“We might have been stuck in our tracks a little at one point, but I can assure you that very visible patrols and stop checks are being conducted.

“To all of those living in rural and remote areas;

• Keep your equipment, machinery and animals safe by locking things up, CCTV and shutting gates.

• Keep vigilant.

• Report anything suspicious, even if you think it might not be worthy or reporting, it could Be the missing piece of information.

• Keep safe and do not approach if you have unwanted visitors.

• Please be reassured that rural crime is an absolute priority across the Thames Valley and we are taking this seriously.
