Devastated owners fears their beloved pet dog has been stolen after he disappeared in the woods.

Dexter the red fox Labrador went missing on Thursday, January 14, in Hogback Woods in Beaconsfield.

Despite huge efforts to find him, which include a Facebook group with more than 1,400 members and dozens of missing posters in the area, Dexter's owners fear he may have been stolen.

Liv Turner, who has mounted the campaign to find her beloved family dog, said Dexter went missing while on his usual walk in the woods at around 1.30pm.

She praised the "incredible" support from the community, both in person and online, who have been trying to find Dexter, but said the family has received "little" sightings of him since he disappeared.

After weeks of searching, there is now a "substantial" finders fee on offer for anyone who knows where Dexter is.

Updating members of the Facebook support group, 'Get Dexter home - Beaconsfield HP9', Liv wrote: "To everyone who has gone out in their time to put up posters, spoken to friends and family, shared everything about Dexter on social media and stayed vigilant on their walks, I can't put into words how huge of a huge help this has been.

"I know there are so many of you 'behind the scenes' who are helping us. Please continue to do so, we can't stop until Dexter is home.

"If you have any information which will help us get Dexter back to us safely, please do the right thing. He wants to come home now. Please look out for our lovely boy."

Wheelhouse Veterinary Centre in Chesham has even helped share Dexter's missing poster, adding: "Dog thefts are massively on the rise sadly and it has such a devastating result for the owners left behind."

Dexter is neutered and microchipped and was wearing a black collar with ID tag when he went missing.
