These incredible drone photos show the extent of flooding in Bourne End as the River Thames overflows – prompting a number of official warnings.

Andrew R Annable has kindly shared these dramatic photographs amid a string of government warnings that homes could be flooded later this afternoon in Bourne End, Bisham and Little Marlow.

The area pictured is usually a well-used spot by runners, dog-walkers and those just admiring the scenery.

But it’s a different story today – with the tops of the benches where people usually stop to rest and enjoy the view only just visible above the water line.

The train line that runs alongside the field is so far unaffected.

According to the government website, properties close to the Thames from All Saints Church, Bisham, to Little Marlow and in Bourne End could be at risk of flooding if they haven’t been already – with further rainfall expected.

The alert – which warns that immediate action is required, reads as of 2.15pm: “Property flooding is expected. River levels have risen on the River Thames as a result of a period of sustained rainfall.

“Therefore, flooding of property, roads and farmland is expected later this afternoon 02/02/21, especially near properties closest to the river from All Saints Church, Bisham to Little Marlow.

“Further heavy rainfall is forecast over the next 24 hours and across the rest of the week. We expect river levels to remain high into the weekend.

“We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are in the area checking defences and clearing weed/trash screens.

“Please remain safe and aware of your local surroundings and avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses.”
