The police are urging the public to not leave donations outside of charity shops as the pandemic continues.

Since last March, several shops across Buckinghamshire have seen several bags and boxes outside stores.

However, whilst the intentions are good, the donations could be deemed as ‘rubbish’ and that the items ‘will not be collected or used in the right way.’

Specifically, TVP Milton Keynes are pleading with the public to not leave their donations outside the town’s branch of Barnardo’s in Oldbrook.

This is due to this outlet of the children’s charity is ‘fully closed’ and ‘will not be reopening’.

In a brief statement on their Facebook page, Thames Valley Police Milton Keynes said: “#MKsouthNHPT would like to inform members of the public that the charity shop of Barnardo’s in Oldbrook is fully closed and will not be reopening.

“PLEASE do not leave donations outside the building as this will just create rubbish and will not be collected or used in the right way.”

The charity was launched in 1866 by Thomas John Barnardo, who wanted to help deprived children in England, as well as his native Republic of Ireland.
