A man wearing a balaclava has been arrested after a police pursuit and a foot chase in Iver on Sunday.

Thames Valley Police reported that they received a call of a suspicious looking car with men inside looking as if they wanted to break into a property in Thorney Mill Road, Iver.

After a police pursuit, the driver and passenger escaped on foot into the woodland and a lake.

Whilst chasing the culprits on foot, officers found balaclavas and equipment in the car.

The driver was arrested for driving offences and going equipped to a property.

His friend was also fished out of the lake and was treated for hypothermia.

Officers also fished out and arrested his friend after treating him for hypothermia.

Thames Valley Police said: "Officers arrived within minutes locating the vehicle and occupants.Vehicle failed to stop and pursued with a passenger trying his luck to escape on foot in woodland and a lake. After the vehicle stopped, officers located balaclavas and other items of interest in the vehicle. The driver was arrested for the driving offences and going equipped. Officers also fished out and arrested his friend after treating him for hypothermia.

"Happy to report the officers response disrupted their intentions and no Burglaries were identified but thank you to the member of public for the initial call. They are now helping Police with enquiries."
