The permitted development period for the film set in Little Marlow, believed to be for the new Star Wars spin-off TV show, expires at the end of April.

Built alongside the Spade Oak nature reserve the set includes dozens of houses, seemingly creating a galactic village for the filming of the show.

After applying for planning permission for three years, the application was altered to a period of six months due to the expiration of the ninth month period under the ‘permitted development’ rights.

This came after there were delays to filming because of the coronavirus pandemic and the winter weather.

With the permitted development period is ending on April 30, Cllr David Watson confirmed the application is now seeking permission to continue filming between May 1 and November 31.

There is no current timescale for when the application will be approved or denied.

Cllr David Watson said: “When originally submitted the planning application sought permission for the use of the site for film-making purposes for a period of three years.

“It was then subsequently amended to seek planning permission for a period of six months following the expiration of the nine-month period allowed under ‘permitted development’ rights, because of the risks of Covid and winter weather delays.

“The permitted development period ends on 30th April 2021.

“The application now seeks temporary permission for the use of the site for film-making purposes between 1st May 2021 and 1st November 2021.

“Our Planners are working through cases as quickly as they can, but at the moment they can’t give you a timescale for when this application will go to the planning committee.”
