With the country in a national lockdown, residents are having to work from home but parts of Marlow have seen serious broadband outages starting February 12, almost a week ago.

There is an unknown issue with the box at the corner of Newfield Road and Newfield Garden as residents wait for the problem to be fixed permanently.

Replacement batteries that last 4-6 hours are being used until the issue can be resolved permanently by the SSE (South East Energy).

The cable needs to be fixed by a specialist engineer known as an SFI engineer as residents are worried about how long it will take for someone to fix the problem.

Residents have also spent hours on the phone trying to find an explanation for the shortages as over 300 complaints have been filed.

Children in the area that are online learning have been unable to attend classes and employees unable to get work done due to the broadband outages.

A resident said: “We have been affected, as have all the residents in the area.

“I work full time from home, as does my husband, and both our sons are having to do online learning, all due to lockdown.

“We literally can’t get things done.

“Most families are in similar situations."

There have also been complaints about the lack of communication on when the problem will be fixed.

The resident continued: “Today, we haven’t had any outages, perhaps it’s been fixed, but as residents, we’ve had no communication at all over the course of the 6 days since it went down.

“Everyone has been trying to figure it out, nobody knows what exactly the issue is, who is ultimately responsible, or when it will be permanently fixed.”

We have contacted the SSE for a comment about the broadband outages in the area.
