It's Friday afternoon and no doubt many people will be looking forward to getting a takeaway in tonight. 

It's a British tradition to get fish and chips on a Friday - so we've rounded up some of the best rated ones in the area according to Google reviews. 

1. The Fat Fish - The Green, Wooburn Green 

"The best fish and chip shop by far in Bucks," reads one five-star review for this village takeaway. 

"I live in Beaconsfield where we have two award winning chip shops but I still travel to this one as the fish and chips are fantastic."

And it seems plenty of people agree with them, as it has a rating of 4.6 from 56 reviews. 

Another review reads: "The best local fish and chips I have had. Cooked to order and non greasy."

2. Tuckin Fish and Chips - Frogmoor, High Wycombe 

This town centre fish and chip shop has impressed its customers, with 132 reviews and a 4.3 rating. 

"Simply the best fish and chip shop in High Wycombe," one review says.

"Always freshly cooked and not greasy. Staff are so polite and friendly, won't go anywhere else."

Another said: "Large portions and freshly cooked. Will be back." 

And another happy customer added: "Team are always friendly and chatty.
Food is always a good portion size and value for money - as well as being delicious!

"Covid-19 safety precautions were in place so it felt 'safe'."

3. Smiles - The Broadway, Penn Road, Beaconsfield

This eatery has 90 Google reviews, with a rating of 4.1 overall. 

One reads: "Cod, cheeseburger and chips were all good quality and tasty. The 12 minute wait in the shop because the fish was cooked fresh is perfectly acceptable."

Their Covid-19 safety rules have also impressed customers, with another adding: "Have done all they can to comply with the rules and make us feel safe."

One said: "Best fish and chips in Bucks." 

4. Tummy Fillers - London Road, High Wycombe

Cod, cheesy chips, chicken burgers - Tummy Fillers probably has what you're craving. 

There are safety procedures in place, with three customers allowed in at a time and face masks must be worn. 

One reviewer said: "Stopped off for a quick lunch when visiting the town. Really good with chunky bright white cod in proper crispy tasty batter. Chips good too, done nicely without too much grease and not soggy despite being wrapped for 5 mins back to my car. Yummy all round and highly recommended."

Another added: "Favourite chippy, great staff, great chips. Always in control of the social distance in the shop, feel safer in here than KFC!"

One customer reminded potential visitors that they do not take card, so cash is needed before dropping in. 

It currently has 74 Google reviews, with a 4.3 rating. 

5. The Big Dish - Micklefield Road, High Wycombe 

Best fish and chip shop in the area. Good quality food at a reasonable price. I travel from the other side of town as it's that good," says one regular visitor. 

Another said: "Amazing chips, best I've had in years and the staff are so friendly."

It is rated at 4.5 out of 5, with 29 reviews. 

6. Smiles - The Parade, Bourne End 

Smiles has likely added a lot more regular customers recently as it has just started provided kebabs too. 

One local visitor said: "Always friendly service at Smiles, reasonable prices too."

Another said: "A great chippy. Due to the current craziness they have an effective flow system to allow social distancing. Busy Fridays."

All Smiles restaurants are currently offering click and collect at the moment as well. 

One reviewer added: "I was super nervous about collecting a chippy during this time but smiles have done it brilliantly!

"You order and pay online. Then in one door to a counter (with perspex up) to say your name, then you go to the other end of the shop to collect your bag and out an exit door. Brilliant system! Thank you... Hadn't had a chippy in 5 weeks and I thoroughly enjoyed it!"

It has a rating of 4.3 with 168 reviews. 

7. Sea World Fish N Chips - Nightingales Corner, Little Chalfont 

"Really nice guys and the food is always great - usually cooked to order. Large portions. Be prepared to queue in the evening, especially on a Friday. The sign of a good chippy," said one review. 

Another praised the "good size" portions, adding: "It's important to remember cash as they don't take card."

And a third said: "Always a great Friday night supper from here. What a treat!"
