A primary school in the north of the county has recently received a £1,000 donation from a local housebuilder.

Barratt David Wilson Homes decided to give Buckingham Primary School the money, which will go towards the school PTA’s project to refurbish and restock the school library with modern and diverse books.

The school was built in 1972 and the new library will provide a fresh and modern space for the children to immerse themselves in the vast range of new books funded by the housebuilder.

Mrs Sam Brewer, Headteacher at Buckingham Primary School, comments: “We firmly believe that a love of books plays a pivotal role in our pupil’s development and education, which is why this project has been so important to us.

“This generous donation will make a huge difference in supporting us with instilling a passion for reading across our school community.

“Fundraising has been particularly challenging in the past year as our usual fundraising events have been unable to take place due to the pandemic, so we are extremely grateful to Barratt David Wilson North Thames for bringing us that much closer to our target.”

The donation has been awarded through the housebuilder’s regional Community Fund, which launched two years ago.

“Each month, the company donates £1,000 to a local charity or organisation working to improve the quality of life for those living in the division’s local area.

It was also revealed that Barratt David Wilson Homes, is building its St Rumbold’s Fields development near the school on Tingewick Road in the town.
