Today is the last day of surge testing in Wooburn Green and parts of Flackwell Heath after the South African variant was found was in the village.

All residents in both areas have been urged to take a test as volunteers knocking on doors to hand out tests around both villages.

A mobile testing unit has also been set up in the Red Lion car park which has been open daily since last Thursday (February 25).

It is still unknown how many residents have tested positive or if another case of the South African variant has been found.

The mobile testing unit is open until 5pm today until the surge testing period ends.

Unlike other mobile testing units, the Wooburn Green site is all done on foot unlike other sites in the country where tests are completed in cars.

This site has been busy and will continue to test people today until the site closes this evening for the final time.

Buckinghamshire Council confirmed the South African variant cannot be traced back to international travel, adding that the person who has it has self-isolated and followed all the recommended guidance.
