Fans of a village bakery that shut down last year will be pleased to learn a replacement will be opening soon.

The Village Bakery at 56 The Green in Wooburn Green closed down for good after 12 years in August 2020.

The announcement left fans of the bakery, where everything was baked on site including fresh bread, cakes and sandwiches, "devastated".

But there have been promising signs of a new business moving in as work appears to have started inside the empty shop.

And this week, signs appeared on the former bakery's window suggesting a cafe, bakery and patisserie will be opening there "soon".

There is currently no indication on the front of the building about who is carrying out the work and what the new eatery will be called.
