Residents living near the West Wycombe Estate may hear "gunfire sounds" ringing out as a TV show is filmed there.

According to a letter sent to residents in West Wycombe, Sister Pictures (Power) Ltd will be filming at the picturesque estate on Friday, March 12, Monday, March 15, and Tuesday, March 16.

The filming is reportedly for an upcoming TV show entitled The Power.

The production company, which is working with Amazon Prime on the show, warned that Friday's session will be a rehearsal for a military funeral, which will include imitation gunfire sounds between 8am and 6pm.

Thames Valley Police and the West Wycombe Estate have been made aware of the company's plans.

They will also be filming the scene on Monday and Tuesday between the same hours and will include blank fires.

According to a letter from the assistant location manager, security will be in place.

She wrote: "Noise will be kept to an absolute minimum outside of the sound effects.

"I do appreciate that our presence will have an impact on the community, but we are working hard to keep disruptions to a minimum."

The West Wycombe Estate could also be host to further filming sessions, as plans were submitted last week for temporary permission to use the land for a six-month period.

It is not clear if this relates to the same production or something entirely new, as the plans have been submitted to Buckinghamshire Council by Planit Films Ltd, which appears to be a consultancy that works with production companies.

These filming projects usually remain secret and the production companies rarely submit the plans themselves in a bid to keep the project under wraps.

However, the site will be needed for a period of 25 weeks between April 19, when set-up starts, and October 8.

According to the documents, the production company will be creating a series of small timber buildings to the south of the main West Wycombe House.

They will also need space for storage, preparation and parking areas for cars and technical vehicles.

The plans suggest a large freestanding "house", a trailer and a driveway will be created for the filming.

The construction phase is due to take place between April 19 and July 11, weekdays from 8am to 6pm.

Filming will be taking place between July 12 and July 16 and again from July 19 to July 20.

The plans say: "The first phase of works (construction/prep) will include the delivery and the erection of site fences to establish exclusion zones. This period will last from the 19th of April

until the 11th of July.

"The second phase of works (filming) will involve significantly more people and machinery. All of these activities have previously been undertaken by the film company and have the specific procedures in place to ensure site safety.

"The third phase of works (strike) will involve the cleaning of the site. There will be no permanent damage to the site as it will be returned to its original condition post filming."

They are planning for a maximum of five trucks and 30 private heading in and out of the site during the construction phase, and 120 cars, 12 trucks, 15 trailers, three catering vehicles and 10 unit cars during the filming process.

During the clean up, there will again be around five trucks and 30 cars moving to and from the film set.

The West Wycombe Estate is fully supportive of the plans, having welcomed film crews before for shows like Downton Abbey.

Buckinghamshire has always been an attractive filming location for production companies, with the likes of the Vicar of Dibley and Midsomer Murders regularly set here, but there has been a major influx of big projects here recently.

A new Star Wars spin-off show is being filmed by Disney in Little Marlow and plans were recently submitted for a US TV show to be filmed at Newland Park in Chalfont St Giles.

There was also filming ongoing in the village of Hambleden over the weekend.
