Wycombe MP Steve Baker has called for lockdown laws to be changed immediately as he denounced "unspeakable scenes" of violence against those who had turned up to a vigil in memory of Sarah Everard.

Mr Baker, a vocal lockdown sceptic who has campaigned for a faster loosening of coronavirus restrictions than planned by the Government, made the comments on Twitter as clashes between the Met Police and grieving women unfolded.

His comments came alongside the resharing of a video from the scene in Clapham Common, which called out alleged "disproportionate, outrageous" actions from officers.

He said: "Unspeakable scenes. You need to change lockdown law now Boris Johnson."

Organisers from Reclaim These Streets tried to arrange a Covid-compliant vigil in memory of Sarah Everard, whose death is the subject of a murder probe, but decided to cancel the event after discussions with police were unsuccessful.

However many grieving Sarah's death decided to turn up to honour her memory.
