New pedestrian crossing to be installed outside Chiltern Hills Academy

Transport for Bucks (TfB) will install a new signalised crossing on Chartridge Lane adjacent to Chiltern Hills Academy, following pressure from local councillors.

Cllrs Jane MacBean and Patricia Birchley have been campaigning for the safety measure which they hope will also improve access to the school from Lowndes Avenue and Penn Avenue.

An online survey is currently open for feedback and runs until the end of the month.

“Cllr MacBean and I have been campaigning for a new and safer crossing outside Chiltern Hills Academy,” said Cllr Birchley.

“Following the previous school extension, I lobbied hard to get an advisory 20mph limit outside the school with flashing lights.

“Soon the school will have 1,350 students, and with the highest walking rate to school in Bucks of 72 per cent, 1,000 young people will use the new crossing every day.

“Transport for Bucks has listened to local councillors and will install a new signalised pedestrian crossing on Chartridge Lane adjacent to the school. This will provide a safer crossing for students and pedestrians wishing to access the school from Lowndes Avenue and Penn Avenue.”
