Plans to convert Green Belt land in Little Chalfont to build three traveller pitches have been rejected by the council.

The application site is located to the east of Lodge Lane within the open Green Belt and on land designated as part of the Chilterns AONB.

The pitches were planned to comprise of three mobile homes, three touring caravans and three utility buildings.

Three previous applications had been submitted which related to using the land for traveller pitches had been turned down.

The plans were met with a serious of objections, including from 27 neighbouring properties.

Little Chalfont Parish Council and Chalfont St Peter Parish Council also listed objections to the plan.

A spokesperson from Little Chalfont Parish Council said: "Little Chalfont Parish Council objects.

"The proposal would be inappropriate development in the Green Belt and AONB, without any very special circumstances to justify development."

Chalfont St Peter Parish Council stated: "The Parish Council object to this application.

"This is inappropriate development of Green Belt. The development is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, para 172 of the NPPF says great weight should be given to conserving landscape and scenic beauty in these areas.

"The development as a residential gypsy caravan site with the stationing of three mobile homes and three touring caravans has a significant urbanisation impact on the character of the area and is considered harmful to the AONB and does not conserve it at all.

"The development would also result in an intensification of use of an existing access at a point where visibility is substandard and would lead to danger and inconvenience to people using it and to highway users in general."

The plans were refused by Buckinghamshire Council.
