A mum-of-two who organised High Wycombe’s first Christmas Windowland trail has set up an Easter version of the popular event that raised thousands for charity.

Rebecca Impey, the brains behind the inaugural High Wycombe Winter Windowland Christmas Trail, is now hoping to raise £1,000 for Marlow Opportunity Playgroup, which looks after children with special needs.

Her Christmas trail helped to raise more than £4,000 for Wycombe Women’s Aid and drew the attention of soft drinks giant Cola-Cola, which donated £500 to the cause after seeing a story in the Bucks Free Press about a resident who recreated the iconic Coca-Cola Christmas Truck outside his house.

Ms Impey said she decided to do an Easter version after the success of the Christmas event and the “positive impact this had on the charity”.

She told the BFP: “The community chose Marlow Opportunity Playgroup as the charity they wanted to raise money for, it won with flying colours.

Bucks Free Press:

“People have gone all out decorating their windows and helping to spread cheer.

“I’m really proud of how amazing the community has been.”

Eighty houses are taking part in the trail, including 20 in Micklefield.

People can take part by making a donation of any amount and getting their trail pack, which includes a map of hidden Easter eggs for children to find, an Easter quiz and a number of other fun activities for children.

Ms Impey said while the main aim of the trail is to raise money for charity, it is also to spread joy for children who have spent the best part of the year at home.

Bucks Free Press:

She wrote on the fundraiser page: “Raising money for charity is the main goal, however the ideas have come from thinking of our brave children who have had a year or so much uncertainty.

“[They have] missed out on days out, adventure, spending time with their friends and families, school, birthday parties – they haven't had much to look forward to.

“However, with these local, safe, Covid-friendly outdoor walking events, we can really spread joy for the little ones. To me this is priceless.”

Bucks Free Press:

The trail starts on Sunday and will run until at least April 10.

One of the houses will see the Mad Hatter and White Rabbit having some fun and tea in an Alice in Wonderland-themed front garden.
