Emergency works at the Handy Cross roundabout will close part of the A404 this Easter weekend.

Highways England will be carrying out emergency bridge deck works on the eastern side of the A404 Handy Cross roundabout, which spans over the M40.

The work will involve resurfacing, replacement of waterproofing, concrete repairs to the deck and replacement of deck joints and traffic light loops.

So Highways England engineers can carry out the work safely, they need to shut the eastern side of the A404 Handy Cross over the Easter weekend from 10pm Thursday, April 1, to 6am, Tuesday, April 6.

Highways England has apologised in advance for any disruption the work may cause.

They added that works are subject to change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances and closures will be advertised on yellow signs in the area.

During the closure, these diversions will be in place:

Motorway traffic diversion:

Traffic wishing to join the eastbound M40 will be diverted via A404 Marlow Hill, A40, to join the M40 eastbound at junction 3.

Traffic wishing to join the westbound M40 will be diverted via A404 Marlow Hill, A40, A4094, A4155 Marlow Road, A404 northbound to join the M40 Westbound at junction 4.

Non-motorway traffic diversion:

Will be diverted via A404 Marlow Hill, A40, A4094, A4155 Marlow Road, A404 northbound to join the M40 Westbound at junction 4.

Pedestrian diversion:

Pedestrians will be able to use the western side footpath.
