A 15-year-old girl from High Wycombe has walked an incredible 310,000 steps in March to raise funds for Cancer Research.

Mollie Grierson, who is in year 11, decided to take up the Walk All Over Cancer initiative so that she was doing something positive during lockdown, whilst helping to raise money to help the charity provide vital life-saving research.

Thousands of people across the country have taken part in the scheme, which was seen an incredible £8.1m raised for Cancer Research.

Mollie has contributed to this, as she as raised £490 as of April 1, 2021.

Mollie’s mum, Wendy Grierson, said: “Every penny donated through Mollie’s fundraising page automatically transfers directly to Cancer Research UK.

“She would be delighted to receive further sponsors in the last week of her challenge.

“We are all so proud of her doing this to help others – come rain or shine every day she has completed her 10,000 steps – Well done Mollie!”

After registering for the challenge, Mollie used her initiative to create leaflets and distributed them in her local area, to encourage her community to donate.

And despite March ending, many people across the country are still donating to the cause.

Wendy continued: “Thinking she would really be doing this on her own, she aimed to raise £50 from family members.

“However, she has been overjoyed with the number of family, friends, and neighbours who have sponsored her and also of their very kind words of support.”
