A FARM-turned-wedding venue applying for a ‘late night entertainment’ licence will have its case heard during an upcoming hearing – but some locals fear the changes could be a “public nuisance”.

The Sargent Charitable Trust has applied for a new premises licence for a barn at Rackley’s Farm, on Marlow Road, in Cadmore End.

A previous application for extensions and parking in relation to a change of use to a wedding venue was approved.

The applicant now hopes to be able to serve alcohol, show films, provide live and recorded music, and late night refreshment between certain hours daily, if granted permission.

Its proposed opening hours are between 9am-midnight, every day.

Five objections were received during a 28-day consultation.

Concerns ranged from noise and light pollution, to ‘undermined peace’, traffic, and “public nuisance”.

“I object to this application to extend the opening hours,” wrote one objector.

“It will cause ‘public nuisance’ with late night noise from cars, headlights and later lighting of the premises.

“I request the application is refused.”

Another wrote: “The possible noise from the venue until at least midnight and almost certainly later, would be significantly intrusive.”

The matter is due for debate during a licensing sub-committee hearing, on April 28.
